Ugh, I empathize with you on the sleepy part, and I have to work till 7am. But yes IsaacMoore is right, you just click on Contacts at the top of your Jaiku page and type in the contacts name. Like Leo's is chieftwit and it'll show their page with a link that says "add <so and so>"
And don't forget to make sure you're logged in. Then to see the latest entries from everyone on your contact list in a single list, click the Home button in the top left corner, and enjoy all the details of Leo's cooking and new shoes (isn't technology grand!)

go to the persons page that you want to add, and at the top under the most recnt jaiku there will be a 'add _ contact' button.
